You can now access your Xbox One console at home even if you are away from your home. This is due to the Xbox app for smartphones that facilitates you to do so. You can remain engaged with your friends while traveling.

This app enables you to buy games, see accomplishments, share data, and send updates. It also allows you to control playback and view social aspects such as messages and profiles. The app is available for both iOS and Android smartphones. All you have to do is follow a few easy steps as follows:

  1. Download and install the app from the respective play store, as per your smartphone operating system. Prior to this, you should update the phone to the operating system’s latest version. It is necessary to have iOS 10.3 and Android 4.4 for using this app for playing Xbox One games.
  2. Launch it and sign in to the Xbox account.
  3. Make both the devices go online for syncing them. On Xbox One, navigate to Settings à Network à Network Settings. For connecting Xbox One, tap Set up wireless network and select the intended network. On the phone, navigate to the Wi-Fi menu in settings or preferences. Both devices should connect to the network by being within the range. A few features such as remotely controlling the console need both the devices on the single Wi-Fi network. On the other hand, some features such as going through activity feed need an Internet connection.
  4. Tap the icon of three horizontal bars in the left corner of the Xbox app. From here, you can use most features. As of now, select Console and then Connect to Xbox One. Now, a list of consoles available for connection is displayed. You will now get only one option in this list, as it is the only console ready for connection. Tap it to activate it.
